Vince Grimm & Will Kratz

Will Kratz passed away in February of 2017.

Vince Grimm and Will Kratz of Cape May County, New Jersey, visited Vietnam as tourists in 2000, and ended up making friends with their tour guide, Quynh. With Quynh, they visited a small village called Lim in Bac Ninh Province, located about an hour outside Hanoi. Quynh’s mother was setting to retire as a school principal, and she told the men about a real problem in the area – fatherless children.

Grimm and Kratz wanted to start an educational foundation to help keep the kids of Lim in school. With Quynh’s help, they found out what they needed to do, including being interviewed by local politicians. “With Quynh’s help throughout the process, including translating all the documents,” they set up the foundation on the Vietnam side. Grimm said they approached the Internal Revenue Service about setting up a 501(c)(3) in the United States. In 2006, the Nguyen Yuan Quynh-VinceWill Education Foundation was established. Grimm said they visit Vietnam every other year now, visiting the foundation which sponsors children in the elementary school, high school, and several students attending university.

In 2022, the foundation was approached by a newly formed group for the blind at the village site. It is an underserved population. The foundation has adopted this group and will be extending financial help to them.

Our Vision

Grimm and Kratz created the foundation after their visit to Vietnam in 2000 with the vision of helping children in a country over 8,000 miles away from their home. Now in 2023, that vision remains as strong as it was at the beginning.

Our Mission

This foundation continues to support the mission Grimm and Kratz shared when it was established. Our mission is to help the children of Lim finish school to brighten their future possibilities, such as getting jobs, caring for their parents, and starting their own families.

100% Of Donations Go To Our Projects

We make sure all donations go towards supporting the many children we are helping. As we raise more funds, our organization will continue to expand our support to more and more children who are fatherless and struggle to have their basic necessities and get an education.

Living In Vientam

Vince Grimm and Will Kratz visited the village of Lim, part of the Bac Ninh Province about an hour outside Hanoi, on their first trip to Vietnam in 2000. This is where they met Quynh’s mother, a school principal getting ready to retire. This village, indicated with a red heart on the map to the left, is where Vince and Will first learned about the problem with fatherless children in the area.
Many families in Vietnam, totaling more than 66% of the population, and work as rice farmers. These rice farmers face grueling heat, dangers of snakes and mosquitos, and developing arthritis to perform their work, which earns them as little as $1 – $2 per day. For children born into this level of extreme poverty or who have lost their father, there is little hope they will have the opportunity for a better life. Once a father dies, there is virtually no financial support for the remaining family members. The widowed mothers often have no choice for work other than in the rice paddies, where they do not make enough money to send their children to school. Many children often have no choice but to leave their schooling and family behind to move far away. This move exposes them to many dangers such as human or sex trafficking, homelessness, drug abuse, and illnesses.
